Patients often receive multiple types of treatment in a PT or OT appointment. For example, you may receive therapeutic exercise and ultrasound therapy during one visit. If you receive more than one service during the same visit, you will need to each up separately and add them together to get the estimated cost for the visit. PT and OT services are often measured in 15 minute increments, or "units". On CompareMaine.org we calculate the "unit" cost. Therefore, if you have more than 1 unit of service you will need to multiply the cost by the number of units you will receive to get a total estimate for the visit. For example, if you receive 30 minutes (2 units) of therapeutic exercise multiply the estimated cost by 2 to calculate the total estimate for the visit. Your PT or OT provider can give you information about what services, including the number of units of each service, will likely be billed during your course of treatment. You can visit Calculating Costs to learn more.
